We have been doing a mountain of price comparison recently, as a result of starting a new venture and fitting out our new house. Some of the sites just tell you the price, some of them show a different price when you click through. And the results they show are limited to the people who have paid to be included on the list. That means there could be another merchant out ther who could save you more money, and you would never know about them. Also, when I look for something where the technology is constantly changing – like buying LCD TVs, for example – I expect a bit of guidance. It is OK for spotty geeks in a shop to act as if everybody knows about all the different options, but we do not. The rest of us prefer to spend our lives watching the TV, not wondeting how it is put together. So if you want our money, give us some help – like a guide to buying home theater systems, for instance.
The next thing on the list is a new mixer, and we really cannot work out which size we should buy, how big the bowl should be, and how many attachments would be useful. The last thing I want is to get something that takes up too much room. So the site that tells us how to buy a food mixer will get my vote, and my cash.
